Fixing a corrupted hard drive on your Mac can be a complicated process, but there are several steps you can take to attempt to repair it:
Start with Disk Utility: This is a built-in tool that comes with macOS and can be accessed by going to Applications > Utilities > Disk Utility. Select your hard drive from the left sidebar and click on “First Aid.” Follow the prompts to repair any errors that are found.
Use Safe Mode: Restart your Mac and hold down the Shift key until you see the Apple logo. This will boot your Mac in Safe Mode and only load necessary system files. From there, you can try to run Disk Utility again to repair any errors.
Boot from an external drive: If Disk Utility can’t repair the hard drive, you can try booting your Mac from an external drive and running Disk Utility from there. You’ll need to create a bootable external drive first, and then restart your Mac while holding down the Option key to select the external drive as the boot device.
Use a third-party disk repair tool: If all else fails, there are several third-party disk repair tools available that you can use to attempt to fix a corrupted hard drive on your Mac. Some popular options include DiskWarrior, TechTool Pro, and Drive Genius.
Note that if your hard drive is physically damaged, these steps may not be enough to repair it, and you may need to replace the hard drive altogether. It’s always a good idea to have a backup of your important data, as attempting to repair a corrupted hard drive can sometimes result in data loss.
